Each fall, the PTO hosts a social during the Walkthrough and offers directions, signage, snacks, school supply kits, spirit wear, and other items for families.
The Back to School Social Chair works with the Executive Board, as well as Building Administrators, representatives who will be present at the Walkthrough (for example, Transportation, Latchkey, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, etc.), the School Supply Chair, and the Spirit Wear Chair.
The Back to School Social Chair can form a committee to plan the event, arrange for snacks (or a company like Kona Ice to offer items for sale), make signage, and organize volunteers to help direct families at the event.

Represent PTO to incoming Kindergarten families before and after Kindergarten Information Night (April), at Kindergarten Playdates, and before and after “phase-in” days
Every summer, the PTO organizes play dates at a local park to allow incoming kindergarteners and their families to meet each other before the start of the school year. The PTO also coordinates in-class volunteers for the first few “phase-in” days for kindergarteners.
The Kindergarten Welcome Chair greets incoming kindergarten families at Kindergarten Information Night in the spring, organizes summer play dates with families, and coordinates in-class volunteers at the beginning of the school year in the kindergarten classrooms.

The PTO hosts a social event in the fall that is often Halloween-themed. In the past we have had a school dance and more recently, an outdoor “trunk or treat.”
The Trunk or Treat Chair works with the Executive Board to set the budget, location, and date for the event.
The Trunk or Treat Chair can form a committee of volunteers to plan the event, coordinate volunteers for the event, and run the event itself.
Secure vendors (i.e. food sales, photo booth, DJ) and coordinates with Building Staff / Administration to secure event space and resources needed.
Creates marketing materials (i.e. flyers, posters, etc.) to the executive board for distribution
Creates shopping list (if asking PTO to purchase materials) / purchase materials (and request reimbursement) for event supplies.

The PTO works with Thomas staff and families to identify opportunities to improve Thomas school buildings, structures, and grounds and to keep Thomas looking its best. The main focus being to keep the pots in the front of the school looking fresh. This is usually done 3-4 times a year based on season.
The Beautification Chair works with Building Administrators & Thomas staff to decorate the interior Commons at events like Back-to-School Walkthrough, Trunk or Treat, etc.

The PTO helps Thomas students and families show their appreciation for Thomas staff by providing food, treats, and other items throughout the school year.
The Staff Appreciation Chair works with the Executive Board regarding dates and budget for staff appreciation for the year.
The Staff Appreciation Chair plans staff dinners for conference nights in fall and spring (usually with a combination of donations from businesses and Thomas families and purchases from local restaurants).
The Staff Appreciation Chair works with Building Administrators to provide food and other items to staff during Staff Appreciation Week during the spring.
The Staff Appreciation Chair can form a committee of volunteers to solicit donations from businesses and Thomas families to provide staff with food, classroom supplies, etc. throughout the school year.

The PTO works with Thomas staff and families to coordinate activities and gather donated supplies for the class parties held throughout the school year
The Class Party Chair works with the Executive Board, Thomas Building Administrators, and Thomas Staff to plan the activities for the class parties.
The Class Party Chair communicates with Thomas families to arrange for volunteers and supplies for the class parties through “Party in a Box” assembly.

The PTO hosts a social event in the spring for families to enjoy together. Over the years, this has included events like Movie Nights, Flapjacks with Families, Donut Drive-Thru, & Game Night.
The Family Night Chair works with the Executive Board on the date, location, and budget for the event.
The Family Night Chair can form a committee of volunteers to plan the event, coordinate volunteers for the event, and run the event itself.

The PTO hosts private social events for Thomas students and their families at local entertainment businesses. In the past, the PTO has partnered with Skate Zone 71 and the Dublin Chiller.
The Executive Board to set dates and budgets for the event(s).
The Committee Chair coordinates with local businesses regarding pricing and logistics for the event and communicates relevant information to families. If necessary, the Committee Chair organizes volunteers for the event.

The PTO celebrates fifth grade students, as they end their academic careers at Thomas. This celebration includes a special field trip, a photo slideshow, a certificate ceremony, and a clap-out.
The 5th Grade Celebration Chair works with the Executive Board and Building Administrators (as well as 5th Grade staff) regarding the dates and budget for the celebration.
The 5th Grade Celebration Chair recruits 5th grade families to volunteer to help plan these events, organize volunteers to run the events, solicit donations, and communicate with 5th grade staff and families.

Dine and Donate Nights are when the PTO partners with local restaurants and businesses. A percentage of sales are donated by the restaurant/business to the Thomas PTO.
The Dine and Donate Chair works with local restaurants and businesses to schedule monthly Dine and Donates and promote the event.

Coordinates with Fortmeyer & Son’s to establish dates for the fall and spring flower sales, receive catalogs, & establish delivery date/times.
Communicate with building secretary to upload student names into flower sale database
Create marketing materials during before/during sale and signups for volunteers to help with delivery and distribution of flowers

The PTO works with school supply companies to offer kits that contain all school supplies requested by Thomas staff.
The School Supply Chair works with the Executive Board and Thomas staff to select a school supply company and to determine the items that should be included in each grade’s kits.
The School Supply Chair communicates information regarding the sale with Thomasfamilies, and also organizes volunteers to distribute kits to families in the fall.

The PTO works with companies to design spirit wear items and offer them for sale to Thomas families throughout the year.
The Spirit Wear Chair works with the Executive Board to select a company (or companies) for the sales.
The Spirit Wear Chair also communicates with Thomas families regarding the ordering process, and organizes volunteers to distribute any items that are shipped to the school.

In the fall, the PTO hosts a fundraiser to fund the PTO events, activities, operations, and other financial commitments for the year, according to the budget passed the previous spring. For the past few years, the PTO has held a walk-a-thon fundraiser, called the Tiger Trek.
The Fall Fundraiser Chair works with the Executive Board to set dates and financial goals for the fundraiser. The Fall Fundraiser Chair also works with the Executive Board to select a fundraising company (if desired) or a Fundraising Committee to plan the Fall Fundraiser event (for example, a Tiger Trek walk-a-thon event).
The Fall Fundraiser Chair works with either the outside fundraising company or the Fall Fundraising Committee to execute the logistics of the fundraiser (including submitting orders for catalog orders and organizing volunteers for walk-a-thons).

The PTO has offered students the opportunity to purchase small items (like pencils, erasers, notepads, and fidget toys) during their lunch period on Fridays. Sadly, we have not been able to offer this for the past few years due to COVID-19 safety protocols.
The School Store Chair manages the inventory of items in the store, sets sale dates, works with volunteers to run the store during sales, and ensures funds are given to PTO Treasurer for deposit.

Community Rewards include cashback and rewards programs offered by companies that provide funds for the Thomas PTO. Examples of rewards programs include Box Tops for Education, and Kroger rewards.
The Community Rewards Chair manages the PTO’s enrollment in these programs, makes suggestions for new programs to the Executive Board, and communicates with Thomas families about how to enroll.
